How T.U.A Protects Your Personal and Financial Data

You are uploading your most sensitive documents. Here is exactly how they are protected.

Tax documents contain some of the most personal information you own, your Social Insurance Number, income, financial accounts, and family details. T.U.A takes data protection seriously. This page explains specifically what protections are in place for every client.

How Are Your Documents Protected When You Upload Them?

T.U.A uses SSL encryption on all data in transit the same technology used by banks. Your documents are encrypted between your device and T.U.A's servers, meaning they cannot be intercepted during transmission. Once received, they are stored in a secure environment with access controls restricting which staff can view your files.

Who Has Access to Your Documents at T.U.A?

Only the accountant assigned to your file and a small number of authorized T.U.A staff have access. Your information is never sold, shared with marketers, or disclosed to any third party without your consent except as required by law or to fulfill your CRA filing obligations.

How Long Does T.U.A Keep Your Data?

Records are retained in accordance with CRA requirements, which is a minimum of 6 years from the end of the tax year to which the return relates. T.U.A maintains records for this period to support CRA reviews or audits. After the retention period, records are securely deleted.

Does T.U.A Comply With Canadian Privacy Law?

Yes. T.U.A operates in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's federal private sector privacy legislation. T.U.A collects only the information necessary to provide its tax filing services, uses it solely for those purposes, and maintains appropriate safeguards against unauthorized access.

What Happens to Your Data After Your Return Is Filed?

Your documents remain securely stored for the legally required retention period. You can request a copy of your filed return at any time through the T.U.A app. If you close your account, your data is retained for the legally required period and then securely deleted. There is no transfer to third parties as part of any closure process.

What If the CRA Has Questions About Your Return?

Our accountants are the preparers of record on every return. If the CRA contacts you about a return T.U.A prepared, our team responds on your behalf using the records on file. Your data being securely retained is precisely what makes this support possible.

File With Confidence, Your Data Is Protected

Professional-grade data security protects your most sensitive information. Your documents, your return, and your privacy are safe with T.U.A.
