Role Description
The Urban Accountant Inc is seeking a detail-oriented and organized is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chartered Accountant-Senior Taxation Specialist to lead and manage tax and financial engagements. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and strategic value of our financial services. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a client-first mindset to support both individuals and business clients. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, audit junior staff, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review personal and small business tax returns with accuracy, compliance, and attention to detail.
- Conduct tax planning and advisory services for individuals and entrepreneurs, ensuring optimal tax strategies.
- Review tax files prepared by junior staff, ensuring all submissions meet CRA compliance standards.
- Assist with audits, notices of assessment, and correspondence with tax authorities.
- Contribute to the development of workflow systems and process improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay informed on Canadian tax law updates, CRA policy changes, and best practices.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering growth and knowledge-sharing.
- Collaborate with management to identify business growth opportunities and strengthen long-term client relationships.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- CPA designation (completed or in final stages) preferred.
- 3–5 years of progressive tax accounting experience, preferably in a public practice setting.
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian income tax (T1, T2, T3, GST/HST).
- Experience with non-resident or cross-border tax is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with tax software (e.g., TaxPrep, Profile, FutureTax) and accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks).
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to client service.
- Self-motivated, organized, and collaborative — capable of working independently while supporting the team’s goals.
- Bilingual abilities are an asset.

- On-site position in Mississauga, Ontario.
- Standard business hours with occasional extended hours during peak tax season.
